Package wastewater treatment: when and which type?

Package wastewater treatment plants are prefabricated solutions that can be commissioned quickly as an alternative to reinforced-concrete plants. They are preferred in projects that cannot connect to the sewer network or require discharge standards — housing estates, hotels, restaurants, industrial facilities and caravan parks.

Biological package reactors remove organic load with aerobic bacteria. They suit domestic wastewater; outlet quality is typically close to garden irrigation standards. Chemical package systems apply physicochemical coagulation and filtration for industrial process water and effluent with high organic or heavy metal content.

Capacity selection considers daily flow, peak-hour factor and wastewater characterisation together. Population equivalent (PE) is the basis for housing projects; m³/day flow for industrial facilities. Ecoteam determines the correct capacity through on-site flow measurement and sample analysis.
